Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog. It is still under construction as you see,,there are not a lot of recipes here,,quite yet,,,
But,, I am working on it.
Hope you enjoy it so far.
I love to be in the kitchen cooking for my family and taking care of them.

We do have some kitchen rules however,,,

#1 No fightin' in the kitchen,,,it makes the food taste bad ( If Momma's distracted, dinner might get a little on the burnt side, and I might forget to add the sugar to the dessert) So,,,NO FIGHTIN' IN THE KITCHEN!!
'sides,,we're supposed to Love One Another!

#2 Always spray the iron skillet with cooking spray when you're done so it doesn't rust.

#3 Close the door to the basement so we don't set off the smoke detector when we're making something deep fried,,,,

#4 Close the door to the mudroom, cuz some of those chore boots are stanky!! (Momma don't want that smell in her kitchen!)

#5 Write it down on the grocery list when we need it!

#6 Always have a plan. That makes meal time fun instead of stressful.

#7  If there is a varmint in the yard, all cooking stops and Momma gets her gun. Stay in the house and be quiet until she gets it.

#8 Always remember to pray over your food and be thankful  before you eat it!

Suds N Stuff

Homemade Laundry Soap
These are the 3 ingredients that you'll need


Slice up 2/3 bar of Fels-Naptha soap with a paring knife. (it is very soft)
Mix with 6 pints water in a pot over low-med heat until soap dissolves.
Stir in 1 cup of Arm and Hammer WASHING SODA (in the YELLOW box) and
1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax.
Stir until a little thickened.
Remove from heat.
Add 2 quarts HOT water to a 5 gallon bucket and add soap mixture.
Mix well.
Fill the bucket with more hot water until it's about 3 inches from the top of the bucket.
Let set for about 24 hours.
It will thicken up like runny chunky jello.

This is a low suds formula so it will still work great in high efficiency washers which is what we have.
This amount will make approx 124 loads at about .03 cents per load! Can't beat that!!
The next day,stir it up and fill up a gallon jug (a clean vinegar jug works great)  Use 1/2 cup per load.
